It’s All Planned For You

Booking through Go Somewhere can save you hours (and we mean hours!) of planning and research, both before and during your trip.

WHY LOCAL EXPLORATION?

Let’s be honest, when we think of the word ‘Bazaar’, we believe it’s just about going to the nearest market and going into whatever outlets come your way. We tend to go to well-lit shops and purchase anything that catches our eye. So why do we need a Tour Guide for shopping in Bazaar? Well, GoSomewhere looks at this as a way to not only enrich your knowledge of places you visit but also as a way to promote our ‘LOCAL’ products sold in the bazaars. They have scoured the city for the best and most authentic locally produced products such as leather slippers and shoes, wooden and bamboo souvenirs, locally produced fruits and vegetables and more. Not only this, you can even converse with the local craftsman and further connect with them making the entire tour not only about shopping but also about learning! It is guaranteed that no device will ever be able to give you more insightful knowledge than the craftsmen themselves.

THE BIGGEST OPEN-AIR MARKET

The word Iewduh literally translates to the biggest bazaar (‘iew’ means bazaar, ‘duh’ means biggest). However, according to Sweetymon Rynjah, a Shillong-based author, ‘duh’ also means refuge, a second chance — something Iewduh is ready to provide to anyone: the lost, the hungry, the poor. In the market, it is common to find local Khasi tribespeople but also migrant communities who set up shop decades ago.

Meghalaya is blessed with rich vegetation and we have 36 species of bamboo growing in the state. Cane and bamboo provide artisans with a huge opportunity to create beautiful & practical weaves, like the bamboo tea tray as seen here. These trays are a smart & eco-friendly alternative to regular plastic trays!

These stylish yet sturdy baskets called 'Shang ' made out of bamboo or cane are biodegradable also adding an aesthetic value that will make you want to use them for all your shopping sprees!

MUGS & CUPS

What? A non-porous and smooth hot beverage holder made entirely out of bamboo? Sounds weird even to us (when we first heard of it as kids of course). These cups can have engravings on them making them eligible for both usage and as a decor item.
