Our tour also includes a visit to Dawki, another gem of a place – truly a visual delight of Umngot River which holds the status of being one of the ‘cleanest rivers in India’. Located on the border between India and Bangladesh, you will get to enjoy a sweeping view of Bangladesh and experience thrilling activities like boating or snorkelling & cliff diving (on clear, sunny days!) and visit the border ‘bazaar’ market for souvenirs.

Meghalaya Tea Gardens
Meghalaya is a non-traditional tea-growing state but the region boasts of producing high-quality & aromatic tea. Meg Tea from Upper Shillong grows at an altitude of 3000-5,500 ft. It is certified organic as no pesticides are used. After a cup of Meg Tea, enjoy a brisk walk through the tea bushes.
Mawjngih Lapynshondur View Point
Mawjngih Lapynshongdor View Point is located at Dymmiew Massar Village. Here one can enjoy a stunning view of the valley (start of the Pynursla canyons, almost like a sneak peek into the journey ahead. If you feel like it, have another cup of sha saw (red tea) or sha dud (milk tea) because there is no limit to how many hot cuppas you can have, especially on a cold & misty day!
The Living Root Bridge in Riwai
The earliest documentation of living root bridges in Khasi Hills is known to have been recorded in the 1844 Journal of The Asiatic Society of Bengal by Lieutenant Henry Yule. Balancing Rock (MAW RYNGKEW SHARATIA)
Nature's Balancing Rock or Maw Ryngkew Sharatia is a unique natural phenomenon where a huge boulder can be seen balancing on a relatively smaller rock. It is believed to be an ancient shrine of the Khasi tribals. Enclosed by a wired fire, the structure is known to remain unchanged even during cyclones or thunderstorms.
Umkrem Falls
Further ahead, let us stop and marvel at Umkrem Waterfall. A view of three-tiered cascades, gushing down with might, especially during monsoon season (Jun-Oct). Umkrem has a cavelike opening where one can walk up and enjoy the mist from the other side of the falls.
The Umngot River at Dawki
Umngot River is a spectacle! Crystal clear water on the Indo-Bangladesh borders, this precious water body serves a great purpose of providing fish to the locals as one of their main sources of food for commercial use. Wah Umngot offers fun activities like boating, snorkelling, camping & cliff jumping. For a better view of the river, we could also check out the Dawki Bridge which was constructed in 1932 by the British.
Borhill Falls
One of the lesser-known spots, on the Riwai-Dawki highway, lies the Borhill Falls. A place where you can sense a clear perspective of a geographical demarcation between India-Bangladesh with the plains starting just a few metres ahead.
Tamabil Zero Point
Tamabil is a border town in Sylhet between Bangladesh and Meghalaya. Dawki-Tamabil is one of the few road border crossings between India and Bangladesh in the West Jaintia Hills district. At sunset, there is a synchronised flag lowering ceremony by the Indian and Bangladeshi border forces. BYRDAW FALLS If it is not too late, we can try visiting Byrdaw Falls, 23 km away from Mawlynnong. This fall is a single-tiered waterfall cascading down in all its glory! Located at Pomshutia village along Shillong-Dawki road, a short hike is a must to reach here. There are good spots from where one can try cliff jumping (with our guided assistance) and if that is not your thing, you can enjoy a quick refreshing dip at the pool.
Wah Rymben Falls
If time permits, we shall make a pit stop at Wah Rymben Falls, which is formed over the Rymben River. A serene spot tucked away in the dense forest, one needs to walk about 30 mins to reach the falls. It is an ideal location to spend quality time amidst nature.

Snorkelling
If you are a good swimmer, snorkelling in the clear river water of Umngot River will take your adventurous trip to the next level! (Best recommended only during the winter months from November-March) Boating - Taking a traditional wooden country boat out on the beautiful Umngot River, spending time listening to the trickling sound of the water and embracing the glistening sun rays is a perfectly planned activity that you must experience with your friends and family.

Not a swimmer? Scared of water? Don't worry! We have life jackets for you to securely strap onto and take a dip in the natural pools because if you don't you will be regretting it! These are the guided activities you will be experiencing in your fun-filled Day Tour with us!

Cliff Diving is considered an adventure sport. If you are physically fit and willing to try with our guided help (of course), we will help you take the plunge for a thrilling experience!
Leisurely Short Hike
Let us do a bit of walking around on this tour and especially to reach the waterfalls. You just need to be careful as some parts may be slippery but every step till the end destination will be all worth it!

Living Root Bridge Making | Guided Demonstration
A living root bridge is formed by guiding the pliable roots of the Ficus elastica tree across a stream or river and then allowing the roots to grow and strengthen over time. We can help show you and let you try intertwining the roots. Hopefully, in time the roots shall grow stronger and become a part of one sturdy bridge!
Border Market Visit
Maybe you would find something fancy to take back with you at the Dawki-Tamabil border crossing village market. You will most probably find some knick knacks or local snacks to munch on
Traditional Khasi Meal
You will be needing a power-packed meal for a day out like this. Khasi cuisine generally includes plain boiled white rice or Jadoh (red rice cooked with meat), dal, tungrymbai (fermented soybean), dohkhlieh (boiled pork salad with ginger & onion), tungtap (dried fish chutney) and Dohneiiong (sesame pork dish). Fret not, there are vegetarian alternatives as well with all organic seasonal vegetables that are stir-fried and a few pure veg restaurants around!
